Friends of the Cam River Rights Festival is an annual event which combines a focus on protecting the rights of our river and hearing about the work of other river groups with celebrating with local choirs and bands. We declare the rights of the river Cam at 6pm with a declaration which is linked to the Universal Declaration of RIver Rights. The event starts with art activities for children, then news from UK and international river groups interspersed with music from 5.30.
We have a strong multicultural theme this year with the participation of Cambridge Voices of Anatolia, Pomegranate – an ensemble with voices and instruments from across North Africa and the Middle East, Mulberry Klezmer, and Frida Violeta a Latin American women’s band with a hint of India. We will also hear songs from Women of Note, Leftymensing, the folk duo Kelly and Woolley, the community choir ReSound and 4 Tunes Friends.
