Inspiring People: Celebrating the Nature on Our Doorstep
As part of the Cambridge Nature Festival, the aim of this project was to engage with people living in deprived wards and under-represented groups, or people living in areas with the least access to nature in the city of Cambridge – and inspire them to get more in-touch with the nature on their doorstep.
Abbey People organised the ‘Abbey Nature Festival’ which included activities with groups such as elderly people, young people, and families. There was a ‘Nature Zone’ marquee at the ‘Abbey Big Lunch’ on 26th June, with nature activities such as making bee bombs, bird feeders and bug hotels. There was also an interactive ‘Chalk Stream Tray’ for people to get their hands wet and see how gravel beds work.
