Walking with Veteran and Ancient Willows

Join Cambridge City Council’s Tree and Biodiversity Officers for a guided walk exploring the veteran and ancient willows of Coe Fen and Sheep’s Green.

We will follow the willows as they weave across this special riverside landscape, looking at how these characterful trees shape the fen, frame the waterways, and provide valuable habitat for wildlife. Along the way, we will explore what makes a willow veteran or ancient, why these trees are so important for biodiversity, and how they connect people, nature and place across one of Cambridge’s most distinctive green spaces.

Expect an engaging, informal walk with time to look closely at these remarkable trees, learn about the wildlife they support, and understand more about their role in the living landscape.
