We have teamed up with local poets and artists to curate a selection of making and writing activities and live performances\, as well as Waterstones who are returning with their boardgames station\, all designed to spark creativity and conversation. All activities are included with your ticket! \nSoak up the atmosphere while listening to music provided by DJ Bosslady and enjoy a drink from our pop-up bar operated by Cambridge Wine Merchants. The Library Shop will be open for you to enjoy some evening shopping. \n

SUMMARY:Introduction to Poetry Writing (Workshop)
DESCRIPTION:Discover your creative voice through this poetry writing masterclass\, inspired by Cambridge University Library and Pembroke College’s exhibition\, Living Water: Poetry\, Art and the Fight for Clean Rivers. \nAimed at beginners\, this short\, fun introductory workshop led by tutor Yvonne Battle-Felton\, is ideal for those wanting to take their first step into poetry. With prompts provided\, you will be given guidance in crafting a poem inspired by the Spring Summer season and the natural world. Participants are invited back for our Library Late (Thursday 18 June) where you have the opportunity to read your poem in front of a live audience. \nWalking tour opportunity – To provide you with inspiration for your writing\, we have teamed up with Water Sensitive Cambridge to offer participants a FREE space on a Deep Time Walk. Explore the watery landscapes of Cambridge and 4.6 billion years of Earth’s history on a 4.6 kilometres (2.85 miles) walk. The walk will take place on Sunday 31 May from 11am-3pm with a break for lunch (bring your own\, or purchase at a cafe). We will ask you to confirm your place on the tour when you book. SUMMARY:Rivers of Film Shorts pt 1 + Panel (Cambridge University Library)
DESCRIPTION:As part of the exhibition\, Living Water: Poetry\, Art and the Fight for Clean Rivers\, we are screening 10 short films commissioned for the Rivers of Film festival in 2025 across two events. Half of the 10 films will be shown at Part One at Cambridge University Library (28 May) and the other half at Part Two at Pembroke College (25 June). A ticket for both events is required if you wish to enjoy all 10 films.  \nAt both screenings\, expect powerful films that present the birth of river goddesses\, a deep dive into personal relationships with river systems\, an exploration of healing grief with water\, and more. Recommended for all lovers of water\, rivers\, river beings\, and the health of the element that keeps this whole ecosystem healthy!  \nSome of the filmmakers will be in attendance to talk about their process and their responses to the brief\, with a Q&A and introduction facilitated by Rivers of Film curator James Murray-White. You are invited to arrive in advance of the screening to enjoy the University Library’s part of the Living Water exhibition.   \nTo see the entire programme\, you should book tickets for both events (both part one and part two).  \nPlease note that the capacity at the University Library screening is lower than the one at Pembroke College.
