DESCRIPTION:Grab this chance to see our fantastic local bat population as they emerge from hibernation in May and follow their activities until their return to a snug hideout for winter.\nThe tours are led by knowledgeable Wildlife Trust Bat Experts and they’ll make sure you get the most from your experience. The tours are chauffeured and include the use of specialist electronic bat detectors which convert bats’ sonar signals into audible frequencies.\nYour guide will outline characteristics and habitats of bats likely to be encountered on your trip and teach you how to use the detectors. You’ll identify exactly which species of bat are flying close to your punt and find out about our amazing local species. \nThe new dates for 2026 will be from 15 May 2026 to 26 September 2026. From 15 May to 12 June\, the tours will run on Fridays only. Then\, from 13 June through to 26 September\, they will run on both Fridays and Saturdays. \nPrices vary based on the number of passengers. The current rate is £71 for two people in a row\, £83 for three\, and £41 for a single row. \nStart times vary per evening. DESCRIPTION:Grab this chance to see our fantastic local bat population as they emerge from hibernation in May and follow their activities until their return to a snug hideout for winter.\nThe tours are led by knowledgeable Wildlife Trust Bat Experts and they’ll make sure you get the most from your experience. The tours are chauffeured and include the use of specialist electronic bat detectors which convert bats’ sonar signals into audible frequencies.\nYour guide will outline characteristics and habitats of bats likely to be encountered on your trip and teach you how to use the detectors. You’ll identify exactly which species of bat are flying close to your punt and find out about our amazing local species. \nThe new dates for 2026 will be from 15 May 2026 to 26 September 2026. From 15 May to 12 June\, the tours will run on Fridays only. Then\, from 13 June through to 26 September\, they will run on both Fridays and Saturdays. \nPrices vary based on the number of passengers. DESCRIPTION:Histon & Impington Green Spaces and Histon & Impington Community Orchard have joined forces for an all day nature extravaganza – Histon & Impington BioBlitz 2026. \nWe will be discovering the wildlife and plants in some of our woods and meadows including Histon Wood\, the Croft Close Nature Reserve\, Long Meadow\, the Manor Park field and Community Orchard. \nWhat is on\, where and when?  \nNature sets the timetable! From dawn (almost) to dusk local experts will be hunting for animals and plants\, and anyone – young or old – can join them. Just drop in\, no need to book. \nThere will be a wide range of stalls with a nature theme based at the Community Orchard in the morning. Our BioBlitz “hub” at St Audrey’s Close Community Centre will also have a range of nature stalls plus a totaliser where you can see just how much has been identified as the day progresses. \nWe have a full programme of TIMED ACTIVITIES that start from either the Community Orchard or St Audrey’s Close Community Centre – see website for timetable. \nSt Audrey’s Close Community Centre will be the BioBlitz ”hub” open from 10:30-16:30. During the morning there will be a second hub in the Community Orchard open from 8am. (See also the separately advertised Orchard Breakfast\, serving 10:30-12:00). SUMMARY:Boat trips at Wicken Fen National Nature Reserve
DESCRIPTION:Sit back\, relax and watch the world go by as you explore the beautiful fenland waterways on the Mayfly. The 50-minute trips run from mid-March to late October. \nOur open boat is powered by a quiet electric motor\, allowing you to enjoy the tranquility of the Fen. Our expert driver will be able to let you know about the wildlife on the day\, point out features of the Fen\, and answer questions about fenland waterways and drainage. \nBoat trips run most days throughout the summer\, usually departing at 11:00\, 12:30\, 14:15 and 15:45. Please contact us on 01353 720274 to check availability and to book. In the event of unfavourable weather\, please call us to check if the boat is running. \nPrices: Adult £7.75\, child £4.75 (under 1s go free)\, family £23.75 (two adults and two children). \nThe boat has capacity for 12 passengers\, including babies. \nPay on the day\, in the Visitor Centre – non National Trust members please be aware\, admission for Wicken Fen will also be required. \nChildren must be accompanied by an adult. \nDogs are not permitted on board (except assistance dogs). \nFor more information and to book tickets
